On the go breakfasts which are actually good for you

When maintaining a balanced lifestyle it is important to have a healthy and nutritious diet alongside any activities you participate in. Many commuters find mornings particularly stressful and more often than not, sacrifice what is largely considered the most important meal of the day to rush off to work. On the go breakfasts help with this problem, whether they’re pre-cooked (the day before, for example) or made very quickly that morning, you can rest assured that you’re having all-important and nourishing breakfast and, even better, on the go.

1. Paleo Banana Nut Muffins

Muffins…for breakfast? Very few would turn down such an offer, but once you hear more about these in particular, you’ll find that there is no need to. A Paleo diet dates back to our ancestors, eating the kind of foods they would have, such as nuts, seeds and grass-fed meats, etc. Whilst there are many possible recipes for morning breakfast muffins, this one is particularly delicious - as well as full to the brim of vitamins and proteins, truly a delicious and nutritious meal! Easily freezable, and in the morning simply popped into the microwave for a few minutes before you leave the door. Check out this recipe 

2. Morning Smoothie

Smoothies are notoriously quick to make, and as a result a great choice for an on the go breakfast. To make it even easier, try pre-chopping the fruit before freezing them, as this makes it even easier in the morning to blend the fruit with yoghurt and a juice/milk of your choice before emptying into a travel mug. 3. Egg Muffins 

Delicious, full of protein, and easy to make. Add in whatever mix you want into a muffin tray before adding in any seasoning and the egg already whisked together, bake for roughly 25 minutes (or until egg mixture is set in the middle) and then simply reheat in the morning before you go. Even better, if you bake a big batch of these. Start your day, sunny side up.

4. Overnight Oats

Made the night before, overnight oats are a super easy and convenient way to eat breakfast either on your way to, or as soon as you arrive at work. Although there are many recipes you could opt for, in essence all you have to do is combine oats with yoghurt and refrigerating overnight. You could even make overnight oats in a near-empty jar of jam - for example, if there is only one or so serving left. Not only will you be enjoying a delicious and nutritious breakfast, but you’ll be recycling too.

5. Breakfast Burritos

Granted, this recipe may take slightly longer than the others, but is still super quick and a great idea for breakfast on the go. Even easier and quicker when you let any leftovers in your fridge dictate what goes into it. To make, buy whole grain tortillas, put in some scrambled eggs and then let your fridge do the rest - veggies, potatoes or meat are ideal choices, add in salsa or ketchup for that extra flavour and then simply roll up your burrito and go. For a vegan alternative, instead of eggs try filling your burrito with a spiced tofu mix.

Whilst mornings and commuting can be difficult, these on the go breakfast ideas will have you, not only enjoying a nutritious breakfast but you’ll be, looking forward to it too
